Home Heart

A 1 track electropop single (4m 29s) — released August 4th 2017 on Low Four Records

New Manchester synth-pop band Koalas debut with the lush and pensive 'Home Heart', co-produced by avant-pop producer Brendan Williams (Dutch Uncles, GoGo Penguin). The duo Samuel Jones and Rachel Waters normally take the vocal lead in-turn, this contrast illustrates Koalas' light and dark duality, 'Home Heart' however, sees the vocal shared and the natural choice as a prologue to the Koalas' story.

Taking influence from Caribou, Boards of Canada and maybe even a little bit of Bronski Beat, the band have taken their time to write a synthesised opus that is as thrilling on stage as it is on record. Sam teases… "We've taken our time to pull everything together, craft and refine. The live show in particular was something we had to really think about before we could even get close to a rehearsal room, the show is about 80% analogue synths with live drums so what you're hearing is pure voltage which is hopefully pretty exciting."
